How this works: the battery runs everything for the full-load hours, then only the essentials for the tail. Example: 4h full + 2h essential covers a 6-hour outage.

ℹ️ With net metering, panels can be sized for both daytime and nighttime loads — the grid acts as a buffer at no round-trip loss. Without it, panels must also charge the battery, which loses ~12% in the round trip.
